The Boston College community is grieving the loss of Jaleigha Dunlap, a senior in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, who passed away unexpectedly in her campus residence hall on the evening of November 17, 2025. Jaleigha, a dedicated student majoring in African and African Diaspora Studies, was well-regarded for her academic passion, leadership, and commitment to social justice.
During her time at Boston College, Jaleigha was an active member of several student organizations. She served as the president of the BC QuestBridge chapter from 2022 to 2024 and was co-president of FACES, BC’s anti-racism organization. Jaleigha’s role as a success coach with the Pine Manor Institute for Student Success and as an undergraduate research assistant reflected her dedication to uplifting others and making a tangible impact on the BC community.
The cause of Jaleigha’s death has not been disclosed, though police have confirmed that foul play is not suspected. The Boston College Police Department and the university’s counseling services are providing support for students in the aftermath of this tragic loss.
Jaleigha’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her for her fierce advocacy, her dedication to her peers, and her unwavering spirit.
