The family of 16-year-old Tristan Brown, tragically killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in July, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver and trucking company involved. The crash, which occurred on July 20, resulted in the death of Tristan, while his father and sister sustained injuries.
The lawsuit targets Hills Trucking Company and truck driver David Turner, accusing Turner of being distracted and failing to brake before the crash. The family alleges that Turner’s lack of attention to traffic patterns and the road ahead contributed to the incident. Furthermore, the lawsuit highlights Turner’s history of dangerous driving, including previous charges for reckless driving, speeding, and driving with an open alcohol container.
The Brown family is not only seeking justice but also working to carry on Tristan’s legacy. Tristan had faced mental health challenges due to bullying but had turned to treatment and helped others through their own struggles. His mother, Lindsey Brown, shared how many kids reached out after his passing, revealing how Tristan had been there for them during their darkest times.
In addition to the wrongful death lawsuit, the family hopes to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving. They believe that more could have been done to prevent the tragedy and are committed to advocating for change in memory of their son.
