Born in Bradford, Ontario, Judson’s love for the mountains, his family, and his community was evident in everything he did. As a trained ski guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, he built Kootenay Backcountry Guides into not just a guiding operation but an educational platform. Judson’s dedication to backcountry safety and planning was unmatched, and his knowledge was shared generously, whether through hands-on instruction or online content.
Beyond his guiding work, Judson was instrumental in growing State of the Snowpack, a national movement aimed at connecting backcountry enthusiasts, sharing vital knowledge, and promoting safe exploration. He also served as the Outdoor Operations Manager at White Grizzly, where he mentored others and was admired for his humility, thoughtfulness, and unwavering dedication.
