In Loving Memory of Barrett Glinn Nelson (BG) – 1974–2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barrett Glinn Nelson, affectionately known as “BG” or “Big Glorious,” on November 16, 2025, at the age of 51. Barrett, a lifelong resident of Varina, Virginia, lived a life rich with love, laughter, and loyalty.
He was a devoted husband to Rhonda Pope Nelson, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage, and a proud father to Makala Anne Bryant (Dylan) and Gracie Leigh Nelson. He is also survived by his parents, Pamela and Robert Nelson Jr., brothers Robbie (Delinda) and Morgan; as well as extended family and his loyal dog, Izzy.
For 19 years, Barrett owned B.G. Nelson Inc., a successful excavation business, known for its hard work, reliability, and honesty. His outgoing personality and generous spirit earned him lasting friendships and admiration.
Barrett loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and cherished gatherings with friends and family around his smoker and bonfires. His sharp wit and humor brought joy to those around him, and he lived true to his values of authenticity, loyalty, and camaraderie.
Barrett’s final wish was for no funeral. In accordance, a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12–3 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at his home.
Rest in Peace, Barrett. You will be missed but never forgotten.
